St John's The End of the Line

Hi Everyone
We finally made it Thursday around 3:30 NFLD time. It feels great
7608kms (4755miles), 98  days and were still talking.

Going to enjoy St John's for a few more days. We are staying at neat old Inn downtown called the Captains Quarters. We still have to get "screeched in". Rochelle loves the jellybean houses, I can see it now, a purple or pink house in Binbrook.
We should be home by midweek.
It will be nice to sleep in our own bed for a change, can' wait.
We look forward to seeing everyone and catching up on emails with our many new friends we met along the way.

Mission Accomplished!

Hope all were watching today as the road warriors sailed across the finish line.  I write this as my amazing mom and dad, the dynamic duo, are taking a well deserved rest and are 'snug as a bug in a rug':)....

Congratulations, mom and dad, there was never a doubt in my mind that you could do it! That said, I didn't expect you to do it so darn fast... Tracking your daily progress on SPOT has become a daily ritual that I will miss but can't wait to see you!

(Ladies and Gentleman, the card sharks' return is imminent.  LOOK OUT!)

HWY #1

I hope everyone is watching, because today is THE day!

How cool are my mom and dad?!!

whats good for the goose----Gander

Hello Everybody
Spending the night in Gander. We have passed the half-way point in crossing NFLD. Not much to see on the TCH but we have made some good time the last couple of days in spite of the hills and weather. We met up with Carm, Jenn, the kids, his mother and aunt today. It was really nice to see them. They are off to Gros Morne before heading home.  We are off to the laundromat.  You really need to have 6 wheels (a car and a bike) to do justice here in NFLD.

We are really looking forward to meeting Mary and John in North Sydney.

Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is still a mystery,
but today is a gift, after all it's the present.

Hopefully we will be home in a couple of weeks.

at the Junction (Sheppardsville not Petticoat)

Hello everybody, we're at the Junction Motel on the TCH as its called in NFLD. The first few days have been tough riding and not much to see or do along the Trans-Canada Highway. You really need a car to visit the little villages and coves to see the real NFLD. Looking forward to St John's and the end of the trip. In our last update we forgot to mention, Pam, that we now know why there are fewer people at the Germania Club Dances this summer. They are all in the Maritimes. We were sitting on a patio of a restaurant in Baddeck, Cape Breton and this person walks over to our table to say hello. It was Susan and Mark (fellow dancers from the Germainia Club), they were sitting at the next table. It is a small world.
Today's ride started out nice but the last 25 k were in a downpour, we are drying out in the lounge with a beer of course.
Carm and Jenn, just got your update, we will try your cell, weather permitting we are going to try and make it to Grandfalls-Windsor tomorrow(Saturday) and hopefully close to Gander on Sunday, watch for us on the TCH.

Newfoundland

Hi Everybody
We have made it to the last leg of the trip, 1000 kms to go. Trying to get the ferry was an experience in itself but we ended up getting on the first ferry of the day, but it ran several hours late and we got into Nfld at dark. The hotels were all booked but we managed to find a B&B that had a cancelation, the owner was great. and we shared a whole house with two other couples.  Looking forward to doing the island and finally seeing Mary and John in Sydney.
